LEGITSCOPE / FIELD NOTES

A better look at your watch.

How to photograph a dial, case back and clasp without losing the small details.

Control reflections

Use diffuse light and a neutral surface. Photograph the dial straight on, then move slightly to avoid glare over text and indices. Do not open the case or remove components just to take a photo.

Make the case back readable

Focus on the engraving and model references. If the writing is blurred, retake the image rather than digitally sharpening unreadable characters. Cover personal inscriptions or information you do not want processed.

Add useful context

A clasp, bracelet or crown image can add context. Tell the chat the claimed model and which detail concerns you. Papers, serial numbers and a convincing exterior do not prove that a movement or the entire watch is authentic.

Escalate when it matters

Movement inspection and physical checks may require a qualified watchmaker. Treat a visual AI assessment as an additional signal, not a valuation or a certificate.
